Meet Dave Chajkowski

Get a behind the scenes look at the people responsible for our success.

Here at Allegheny Ford Isuzu Commercial Truck Sales, we know exactly what and who we are. And we know what we aren’t. We are not our location, or the buildings, or the lot. We aren’t our trucks or vans, and we aren’t our name. This business is, and always has been, all about people. No two people who work here took the same path in life, and those individual life experiences have created a one-of-a-kind, diverse working environment that simply makes us better.

Allegheny Ford is people. And we’d like to start introducing you to some of the best and brightest in the business. Meet Dave Chajkowski. Dave recently sat down to share his story with us, and we’d like to share that with you.

Although my passion and love for working on vehicles began to actually bloom during my sophomore year in high school, the seed of that passion was certainly planted very long before that. I can remember my father working on a different vehicle every weekend in our garage, and sure enough I was right there beside him. Cultivating my mind just by watching and occasionally handing him the right tool. Hearing that engine fire back up once again, when just the day before it was in pieces, smelling the gasoline and raw metal, feeling the grease under my fingernails… all of the simple things that one would most likely take for granted were, and still remain a genuine thrill in their own right.

It was during my sophomore year of high school that I began attending Parkway West Career and Technology Center to learn the cosmetic counterpart of the automobile, Auto Body. I felt like I was a kid once again, realizing I could take a completely obliterated car and make it shine like new once again. A new passion and respect for the vehicle certainly grew during my three years there.

I had two truly fantastic body men by the names of David Pallerino and Todd Kieffer show me the ropes of taking a heap of disgruntled metal and making it drive down the road once again, all while glistening like never before. To this day I regularly think of their skills which they passed onto me and how grateful I am for them.

After high school I wanted to take what dad taught me the fundamentals of and perfect them by attending Rosedale Technical Institute for Automotive Technology. It was there that I learned why the car did what it did, why it moved, stopped, handled and behaved the way it did. I received an excellent education and began working immediately with Ford Motor Company as a technician, performing for a living what dad taught me as a child.

It was so incredible and almost surreal to be going into a garage for a living and performing repairs to get people back on the road. That occurred five years ago and my love for this field has only expanded ever since. I couldn’t help but think about my time at Parkway West, however, and I did miss the cosmetic side of the vehicle quite a bit. That’s where Allegheny Ford stepped in and created a truck body empire from the ground up with their acquisition of Omaha Standard truck bodies.

When the word custom comes to mind, I think of my career at Allegheny Ford Truck Body because we will take any dream a customer can ponder and turn it into a reality. I immediately felt the joy I experienced mending metal and painting panels at Parkway West rekindle with my opportunity to work on a wide array of trucks and truck bodies here. Sometimes I still cannot express the euphoria I feel after that last atomized burst of paint rockets from the end of the spray gun, and I get to see the completed product right before my eyes. I love to perform a proper, quality job and see the truck look absolutely incredible when it’s all said and done.

In closing, I can easily attest to the fact that I did not choose this career for a living, it surely chose me from the time I was a little boy. It’s a fantastic feeling to do what you love every single day.

Over the coming months, we will introduce you to a few more members of our extended family here. We are proud of the work we do, and we are incredibly proud of the people, like Dave, who bring a lifetime of passion to our business. To meet Dave, or to learn more about what we can do for your business, please always feel welcome to stop in or give us call.
