Introducing Luca Mars of Allegheny Ford Racing

Luca Mars is quickly earning a national reputation for his relentless racing style and skill beyond his years.

Think back to what your life was like in third or fourth grade. What did you do for fun? You probably had some homework, maybe started developing a hobby or two, played some Little League, and probably spent a lot of time with friends or siblings just doing the stuff that kids do. Some kids, though, take their hobbies to incredible heights at a very young age. Introducing Luca Mars of Allegheny Ford Racing.

Next month, Luca Mars will turn nine. And at nine years old, Luca will officially have been racing competitively for a third of his life. Luca started racing when he was six, and by the time he was just seven years old, he was winning races against kids nearly twice his age. When Luca first started racing, he was endearingly referred to as “The Lucanator,” a name and reputation he earned from his naturally more aggressive racing style. His take-no-prisoners approach helped him move up a class and take on 10 and 12 year olds with relative ease.

Luca is the son of Brett Mars, the Owner of Allegheny Ford Isuzu Truck Sales, and he is proudly sponsored by all of us here at Allegheny. For many years, Brett raced in the SCCA, eventually transitioning to karting to include Luca. With assistance, support, coaching, tuning, experience, and passion from Dan Schlosser of Kartwerks, Luca is truly making a name for himself in the karting world. You can read a little bit more about Luca’s relationship with Dan and the Kartwerks family here.

Last May, Go Racing Magazine featured Luca in an article. The article, among other things, goes on to explain that despite Luca often being the youngest on the track, he holds his own and often bests competitors who are much older and more experienced than him.

We also wanted to share this video of Luca winning the WKA National Championship, becoming the 2014 WKA Yamaha Rookie Champion. This win was on the back of championships in the Great Lakes Sprint Series and the United States Pro Kart Series, and 18 wins and 5 second place finishes over 26 races.

It goes without saying that all of us here at Allegheny are so unbelievably proud of Luca. We might be a bit biased, but we truly believe he is one of the best young racers in the world. We plan to keep you updated on his competitions from time to time, so you can watch him grow into the wonderful young man he is quickly becoming.

We are so proud of you Luca
