Tonka Truck

A lot of us have been tackling big jobs on the job site most of our lives. Sure, once upon a time our job site was a sandbox, our job was to dig a hole or make a pile, and our uniform was a diaper, but to us, the work we do today is just as important. And let’s be honest, at times it still feels like playing in a sandbox. Some days it’s like the only thing that has really changed is the diaper.

This week we are having a great time at the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis. In an industry that shines a lot of light on sports cars, it’s nice to enjoy a week in the spotlight. Ford takes up a lot of space here at the show, and rightfully so. They lead the class when it comes to medium-duty workhorses. So far, one of the highlights for us has been a bright yellow showstopper. Ford Built a Real TONKA Truck From a 2016 F-750, and it is magnificent.

If you ever want to see a packed room of full-grown adults suddenly look 20 years younger, simply show them a ten-foot-tall TONKA Truck that looks exactly like the one they played with when they were young. The Super Duty F-750 was upfitted with a dump truck body, then painted that signature TONKA yellow with a custom blackout nostril grille.

It quite literally looks exactly like a TONKA truck, but much, much bigger. This one isn’t plastic, though. It’s heavy-duty steel, and under the hood of this particular Ford F-750 is actually a Ford 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel engine. You can see it in action here:

Work trucks are the foundation of modern society, and Ford trucks are responsible for pouring that Foundation. Likewise, TONKA is the foundation of many of our imaginations. If we’re honest, it might be the reason a lot of us do what we do today.

Please check out our earlier blog posts if you’d like a rundown of all the changes coming with the redesigned 2016 Ford F-670/F-750 trucks.
