Could EcoBeast be Ford’s Answer to the Hellcat?
Ford Trademarked the Name EcoBeast
There is something uniquely American about an over-the-top muscle car. We all just love the raw power and throaty growl of these high-end cars. This has become especially clear during the new 2015 model year with the skyrocketing popularity of Chrysler’s new Challenger Hellcat and Charger Hellcat models. The other automakers have obviously noticed the excitement and success of the Hellcat, and will likely try to imitate it in their own ways. We recently found out that Ford trademarked the name EcoBeast. We think that the EcoBeast may be Ford’s answer to the Hellcat, which is very exciting.
Ford has released some performance versions of its EcoBoost line of vehicles in the past. Most notably with the new 2015 Ford Mustang, Focus ST and Taurus SHO. However, so far they have not created anything that has completely blown us away. That may change very soon though, because Ford recently filed a trademark claim for the name EcoBeast with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. They filed this trademark on December 22 under the Goods and Services for Automobiles and Automobile Engines listing.
Ford has not officially commented about this EcoBeast trademark yet. However, there have been rumors floating around that they may be using this name for the new upcoming version of the F-150 SVT Raptor that is expected to be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
Even though Ford filed for this trademark, it does not mean that they have to use it. However, we think it is unlikely that Ford is just going to shelf this name. So we are excited to find out which vehicle (or vehicles) will wear the EcoBeast badge.
We are all crossing our fingers that we will find out more about the EcoBeast when Ford brings all of their performance vehicles to the Detroit Auto Show in a few weeks. We will be sure to update you as soon as we learn more.
