Built to Tow
Ford’s 2017 F-550 Super Duty was built to tow.
The F-550 has a class-leading maximum load capacity of 7,630 lbs for the 2017 model. Even more impressive is the F-550’s ability to tow a maximum of 32,500 pounds with a gooseneck trailer (thanks to the stiffened box), which is 1,300 lbs more than the 2016 model. Of course, towing a heavy load is only half the battle. The Adaptive Steering feature on the 2017 F-550 Super Duty can reduce the amount of wheel input needed during low-speed operations, while it reduces sensitivity to steering input when towing at higher speeds. For 2017 available adaptive cruise control with automatic braking, in-cab tire-pressure monitoring and lane-departure warning features appear on the F-550 Super Duty for the first time.
Up to seven cameras are available on the 2017 Ford F-550 Super Duty, making it a breeze to back up and connect a trailer then keep a watchful eye on the load during transit. The blind-spot warning system with trailer tow modifies its warning to account for the length of the trailer. The 2017 Ford F-550 Super Duty also comes with Ford’s latest Sync 3 infotainment and an 8.0-inch screen that makes monitoring all those cameras a snap.
Power
Ford has three powerful engine options for the 2017 F-550 Super Duty for sale in Pittsburgh. The first is the 6.7-liter turbodiesel Power Stroke V8 that still puts out 440 horsepower, but the torque increases to 925 pound-feet of torque – up from 860 lb-ft in the 2016 model. The second is the 6.2-liter gas V8 which also receives an increase in torque – from 405 lb-ft to a class-leading 430 lb-ft. Last but not least is the 6.8-liter gas V10 putting out an impressive 424 lb-ft of torque.
